1. Purpose
This SOP establishes a clear and standardized process for addressing employee performance issues and policy violations. It ensures corrective actions are consistent, legally compliant, and well-documented through the Employee Disciplinary Action Form.
2. Scope
Applies to all employees, supervisors, managers, and Human Resources personnel involved in the disciplinary process within the organization.
3. Definitions
- Disciplinary Action: Any corrective or punitive measure taken in response to employee misconduct or underperformance (e.g., verbal warning, written warning, suspension, termination).
- Verbal Warning: Official advisory for minor, first-time issues.
- Written Warning/Performance Improvement Plan (PIP): Document detailing performance gaps, corrective steps, and timelines.
- Suspension: Temporary unpaid removal from duties for serious or repeated infractions.
- Termination: Dismissal from employment for severe or recurrent misconduct.
- Progressive Discipline: A structured, escalating approach to corrective actions.
